About the Northwoods Art Tour:
From the Northwoods Art Tour website – The Northwoods Art Tour was the brainchild of charter member Carl Gromoll in 2000. Carl’s original concept was to create a way for the public to find artists who worked only at home studios, and didn’t necessarily sell their work in galleries. The tour would be a good way for people to find these “hidden artists,” see what they do, and how they do it.
That first tour featured 20 artists at 19 locations. Five of these original artists are on the tour this year: Odonata in Mercer, Manitowish River Studio in Manitowish, Moondeer & Friends Gallery (now in Boulder Junction), Bear Paw Pottery (now in St. Germain), and Carl Gromoll in Eagle River.
The tour has grown over the years, adding a Fall Tour in 2007. The concept has remained the same: to bring artists and the public together in a meaningful way that facilitates understanding through demonstrations and interaction, and builds connections between the artists and the public.
The tour has flourished because visitors have grown to love the rare opportunity to get behind the scenes at the artists’ private studios. Often, art is created in quiet and solitude. The artists of the Northwoods Art Tour are excited to meet you and share their efforts and stories. We look forward each year to answering questions, sharing our processes, greeting old friends, and making new ones.
The 2021 Fall Northwoods Art Tour will be held on October 8th through October 10th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm daily.
